What 3 Star Classification Means

Firstly DO NOT confuse this with Hotel designations.

 

This form of tourist accommodation is subject to a rigorous classification system designed to guarantee the quality and comfort of your stay.

 

It is a voluntary national system that awards 1 to 5 stars to accommodation. 

The evaluation criteria for this ranking are divided into three main categories:

• Equipment

• Customer services

• Accessibility and sustainable development

A total of 133 criteria are taken into account to determine the number of stars awarded to a gîte. These criteria may include items such as the presence of a fridge, oven, microwave, table and chairs, as well as other household appliances such as a pressure cooker, kettle, mixer or ironing board.

Whatever the number of stars, certain criteria are essential for all gîtes:

• A quality welcome from a well-trained host

• Perfect comfort, hygiene and cleanliness

• A well-maintained exterior (roof, facade, window frames, etc.)

• A pleasant garden or outdoor area, including a space to relax Indoor furniture in good condition, quality bedding and tasteful decoration

• Basic household appliances (coffee machine, blender, toaster, kettle, pressure cooker, etc.)

• A complete set of cooking utensils suited to the capacity of the accommodation

A guarantee of quality

Classification guarantees travellers a certain level of quality, validated by independent bodies. This reduces the risk of unpleasant surprises on arrival at the gîte. Well-rated gîtes are more likely to have modern facilities and maintain a high standard of cleaning products. In addition, these gîtes may offer a large outdoor space or a private car parking area, an added bonus for families.

No facilities for children (No children allowed), no vehicle charging point (public one is a short walk away), No dish washer (sorry), No Telephone, No heated towel rail, No garage, Not suitable for Disabled,  No washing machine (one can be made available at main house)
